Beornings' Settlement by JonHodgson Beornings' Settlement by JonHodgson

A Beornings' Settlement for The One Ring rpg from Sophisticated Games and Cubicle 7.

"Faithful to the teachings and will of their chieftain, they protect the mountain passes and the road that leaves the forest to cross the river Anduin, watching for every creature, on two legs or four, that dares defy them. Men, Elves and Dwarves still have to earn the trust of this suspicious folk, and often must pay heavy tolls for safe passage across the Beornings’ domain."

You can see an hour long walkthrough broken up into ten videos over on my youtube channel: [link]

Around the time the game is set (between The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings), Beorn gathers followers. They aren't skinchangers like him, but they are known as the Beornings. Beorn does have a son though.

Thanks!
It's not Beorn's Hall. Just another settlement of Beornings.

Not quite how I imagined Beorn's dwelling, but still a very nice interpretation! Seems almost Native American in design. Very creative and beautifully executed!

Thanks! Just a note of order, just since these things have a tendency to gather speed on dA - this one is not meant as Beorn himself's dwelling. It's merely a holding of the Beornings. I'd want to stick much closer to Tolkien's own drawings of Beorn's Hall if and when time comes to paint that one. :)

Thanks again!

Great painting. To me you capture the feel of Tolkien very well. And thank you for the instructive videos.

The videos are excellent, thank you for not charging £20 for them. I am especially intrigued by your use of texture to break up and see into areas that could otherwise be rather dull -- very inspiring.

Very nice.

I like the detail with one opening (to a cold storage, perhaps) in the hillside, outside the stockade.
