This one is the cover to the forthcoming "Friends of Foes". A brand new supplement for Dragon Warriors published by Magnum Opus Press.
I pretty much see this installment of our heroes' story as coming after the Bestiary cover. Our knightly friend in particular didn't fare well against the dragon, and the female knight shown here in some way intervened. Perhaps she was after the reward placed on the heads of our conspicuously-outside-the-bounds-of-the-feudal-system adventurers. Our barbarian chum is now trying to negotiate his release whilst the mystic and sorcery are resting up in the spital house trying got get over their meeting with the dragon! Perhaps our party and this new knight have more in common than she currently realises? Is our barbarian the best person to be trying to convince her of that? I think probably not!
Meanwhile the locals earn their living as best they can from these passing upwardly mobile heroes. Or perhaps our urchin friend is the lady knight's side kick?
Good job on the colours, atmosphere and gear (the armour is nice and simple, but also very well rendered. Feels right.) as always!
One thing bothers me a bit - due to the perspective on the houses the knight seems to be leaning forward too much. Maybe she's supposed to look agressive, I'm not sure. (I know all artists hate "I'd do that differently...", I apologize up front!) I think it would read better as a negotiation if she stood straight and confident - her head seems to be tilted forward like she's preparing to draw the sword and attack any instant.
Anyway, it's a very nice piece! I love how you work with these warm/cold greys and lots of texture to create a quite depressing mood.
I'm really interested in what that little urchin is doing. I didn't pay attention until you pointed him (her?) out. Is he hiding behind the barbarian or stealing his purse? Hmmmm...

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
