This one is the cover to the forthcoming "Friends of Foes". A brand new supplement for Dragon Warriors published by Magnum Opus Press.
I pretty much see this installment of our heroes' story as coming after the Bestiary cover. Our knightly friend in particular didn't fare well against the dragon, and the female knight shown here in some way intervened. Perhaps she was after the reward placed on the heads of our conspicuously-outside-the-bounds-of-the-feudal-system adventurers. Our barbarian chum is now trying to negotiate his release whilst the mystic and sorcery are resting up in the spital house trying got get over their meeting with the dragon! Perhaps our party and this new knight have more in common than she currently realises? Is our barbarian the best person to be trying to convince her of that? I think probably not!
Meanwhile the locals earn their living as best they can from these passing upwardly mobile heroes. Or perhaps our urchin friend is the lady knight's side kick?
On a little search for well-armoured females (very hard to come by among all chain-mail-bikini-clad-womanfolk here on Deviantart) I stumbled on this awesome drawing.
I absolutely love the entire setting, and the armour on the female knight is probably one of the very few well drawn functional female armours on Deviantart.
It's a hard sell for the most part. Most fans want "sexy" rather than functional armour.
Occasionally you find a publisher who knows something about armour, and wants a bit of practicality and functionality. Which is always great.
Something of note on this one was that I was glad of the surcoat, since even practical plate armour for women, in many fans' minds, "should" have distinct "boob holders". Whereas in reality a female warrior would be far more comfortable and better protected just strapping it all down! The last thing you would want in reality are two projections directing all blows to the chest right at your heart!
That said, I'll get off my soap box to add that fantasy is fantasy, and that's ok too!
A bit too much to be honest. I wouldn't mind the occasional chainmail bikini (I can appreciate a little skin ), but in fantasy-art it really seems to be the standard mode of 'protection' for females.
And what you wrote about the 'breast-bulges' is something I could have written myself
I won't say I hate females in skimpy armour (since I would be lying ), but I do feel properly armoured females are under-appreciated.
Oh, and you might spot a few more faves in the near future,
There needs to be a follow up where the barbarian takes off the scamps head for being cheeky! Nice piece, the buildings are excelent, they have real character.

Thanks for the add!
